Job Title: BIM Coordinator
Location: Hertfordshire
Purpose of the Role
The BIM Coordinator will have primary responsibility for supporting BIM delivery across allocated projects and assisting the design management team in the efficient use of 3D models and BIM data in meetings and workshops.
The role ensures that information is produced, coordinated, managed, and exchanged in a controlled, compliant, and commercially effective manner in line with project requirements and ISO 19650-2.
The BIM Coordinator will, where required, support and coordinate with the consultant BIM Manager and be heavily involved with the project team and subcontractors.
The role will support both preconstruction and operational functions, including involvement in tenders and project delivery, while also assisting the Digital Lead in delivering the wider BIM strategy.
The role will be primarily site and office based and may require regular travel across the Southern region. Occasional remote working may be possible; however, this role is expected to be a visible and active member of the project team, supporting digital delivery on projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. BIM Strategy and Governance
* Ensure alignment with Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR) and contractual obligations
* Provide monthly progress reports/dashboards for allocated projects (ACC)
2. Information Management and CDE Oversight
* Work with Document Control to manage and govern the Common Data Environment (CDE)
* Define workflows for information exchange, review, approval, and status codes
* Ensure robust version control, traceability, and auditability of project information
* Monitor information quality and consistency across all disciplines and supply chain partners
3. Design Coordination and Model Management
* Lead multi-disciplinary model coordination across all project models
* Oversee or support consultants with clash detection, coordination reviews, and issue resolution
* Ensure design risks are identified early and mitigated through model-based coordination
* Maintain a federated project model for review and decision-making
* Support project teams in maximising BIM processes during design workshops
4. Construction Integration and Digital Delivery
* Integrate BIM processes with construction planning, sequencing, and logistics (4D)
* Enable constructability reviews and digital rehearsals for complex construction activities
* Work closely with site teams to embed model-based working into construction delivery
5. Supply Chain and Stakeholder Management
* Assess supply chain BIM capability and provide technical guidance where required
* Report on capability status in line with ISO 19650-2
* Facilitate collaborative working across all project stakeholders
6. Training and Support
* Provide support to users of ACC Build and Collaborate
* Assist with 3D viewer training on a project basis
* Conduct or review formal model reviews at key project milestones
* Promote best practice in model-based working
7. Digital Tools and Innovation
* Drive continuous improvement in digital delivery processes
* Support automation, data extraction, and reporting from models and meetings
* Maintain awareness of industry developments and emerging technologies
8. Compliance, Reporting, and Assurance
* Support the production and maintenance of the BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
* Conduct regular BIM compliance audits
* Support client digital assurance processes in line with project EIR
9. Handover and Asset Information
* Define and manage requirements for as-built information and asset data
* Coordinate delivery of as-built models and structured asset information
* Support the creation of Asset Information Models (AIM) and digital twins where applicable
* Ensure information is suitable for integration with facilities management systems
Summary
This role will focus on BIM coordination across key projects in the Southern region, supporting both project delivery and digital strategy implementation, while reducing reliance on external BIM consultancy through in-house capability.
