Overview
Join Our Team as a Social Work Team Leader in Cornwall. We are looking for social work managers or experienced social workers who are keen to take the next steps in their career to join the Independence and Wellbeing Service (IWS) in the West of Cornwall as a Team Leader (Front Door/Community). You will guide and support the team to utilise evidence-based practice to deliver strengths-based and holistic outcomes for residents. There is one position available.
Our Service provides comprehensive support from the initial contact and assessment phase, gathering essential information to determine the most appropriate next steps using a solution-focused approach. This includes offering information and advice, signposting individuals to other agencies, and progressing to our reablement services to maximise the person’s independence. By working within and across primary care networks, we identify the best solutions to ensure individuals remain safe and supported at home. Sharing knowledge and expertise will help your team grow, achieve their goals, and deliver better outcomes.
This is a public/customer-facing role with the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers. The position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. You must be within a reasonable commutable distance of Cornwall to enable regular face-to-face working.
Responsibilities
You will:
* Manage a team of assessing staff including social workers and social care practitioners
* Support casework decisions that safeguard adults, promote wellbeing, and improve quality of life
* Provide staff with regular support, reflective supervision, and casework monitoring
* Develop the team and wider service through active involvement and knowledge sharing
* Encourage self-learning and keep knowledge and skills up to date while working to Adult Social Care practice standards in line with the national Professional Capability Framework
You will collaborate with health colleagues and operate within a positive, busy environment that requires leadership and commitment.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
* Social Work Degree or equivalent qualification, with current registration with Social Work England
* Proven track record as a social work manager or social worker in Adult Social Care with substantial experience
* Strong understanding of issues related to vulnerable adults, hospital discharge, and local authority duties as defined in the Care Act
* Experience with policies and legislation governing adult social care, including mental capacity assessments and deprivation of liberty decisions
* Experience working in a multi-agency environment to provide Adults’ Services
* Understanding of quality assurance and performance management mechanisms to enhance practice quality and consistency
