Our client, a well-established wholesaler with a strong reputation for quality and reliability, is seeking an experienced Purchasing Executive to join their team in Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded professional with a solid background in international procurement and supplier management to play a key role in ensuring a smooth and efficient global supply chain.
The Role
As a Purchasing Executive, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of products directly from international factories, primarily across Asia and the Middle East. You will work closely with suppliers to negotiate prices, secure reliable supply, and ensure that products meet quality, delivery, and compliance standards. This role will suit someone with a strong understanding of import processes, shipping documentation, and supplier performance management.
Key Responsibilities
* Source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships across global markets, particularly in Asia and the Middle East
* Oversee end-to-end purchasing activities, from order placement through to delivery and quality assurance
* Monitor stock levels and forecast demand to ensure product availability
* Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve best value
* Liaise with logistics providers and freight forwarders to coordinate shipments
* Ensure compliance with all import regulations, documentation, and quality standards
* Identify new suppliers and assess opportunities for cost and efficiency improvements
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a wholesale, retail, or manufacturing environment
* Strong knowledge of global supply chains and international sourcing, particularly from Asia and the Middle East
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills
* Understanding of import/export documentation and international shipping processes
* Commercially astute with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Confident using ERP systems and Microsoft Excel for data and supplier management
