Summary
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an ICT Field Engineer to join our skilled and supportive Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) team.
This is a development role, starting at Grade 5 (£33,699 - £36,363) with progression to Grade 6 (£38,220 - £40,777). This role is available on a permanent full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.
As the largest non-metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service in England, we serve the communities of Devon and Somerset – working to prevent emergencies and keep people safe. Our DDaT team plays a vital role in supporting frontline operations and improving outcomes for the public.

You’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting ICT hardware and systems across the Service. This is a hands on, varied role where your work directly supports emergency response and community safety.

Key responsibilities:
1. Install, maintain and support ICT equipment across multiple sites.
2. Support critical systems, including mobilising and station equipment.
3. Configure and maintain hardware and software
4. Work with suppliers to ensure service levels are met.
5. Maintain accurate records and documentation
6. Provide excellent customer support to colleagues across the Service
7. Assist with system administration and service desk support when required.
8. Contribute to out-of-hours support
9. Support continuous improvement and share best practice.

24. Demonstrable ICT Hardware support knowledge and experience.
25. Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improvement; develops innovative approaches and ideas.
26. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Microsoft O/S software and Active Directory.
27. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of network architecture, both Data and Communications.
28. Valid driving licence; ability and willingness to travel to sites within Devon and Somerset, and nationally.
29. Exposure to the ongoing delivery of both Data and Communications networks and associated devices.
