About The Role
The Permanence Social Worker will work alongside the fieldwork teams when care plans are being twin‑tracked with a plan of adoption. The role involves completing Child Permanence Reports and Sibling Assessments during court proceedings, leading the preparation of the child, and supporting adopters with relevant paperwork. The worker will serve as the allocated social worker from placement order through to the granting of an Adoption Order. An enhanced barred‑list DBS check is required.
Responsibilities
* Take the lead in securing early permanence by managing the child’s journey to an adoptive placement from the point that adoption is considered a potential outcome.
* Complete Child Permanence Reports, Adoption Support Plans, and Annex A’s to a high standard within tight deadlines.
* Prepare detailed analyses of the child’s current and predicted needs, inform matching, introduction and placement support.
* Act as the allocated social worker from placement order until Adoption Order, supporting children through matching, introduction and settlement.
* Apply Signs of Safety methodology and trauma‑informed practice.
Qualifications
* Social work degree or equivalent, e.g., CQSW, DipSW (with a specialism in children’s services) and registered with Social Work England.
* Preferably, several years post‑qualifying experience in child care social work, including adoption work from family finding to Adoption Order.
* Evidence of ability to produce child permanence reports, adoption support plans and Annex A’s with high quality and within deadlines.
* Skills and knowledge of creative, innovative, relationship‑based social work, collaboration with families and professionals.
* Commitment to trauma‑informed practice.
* Full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
