Job Title: Senior Test & Validation Engineer - Powertrain Overview This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Test & Validation Engineer to step into a senior role, working at the forefront of powertrain technology. You'll be responsible for planning and executing validation programmes for powertrain components and systems - including high-voltage battery systems, driveline components, motors, and inverters. The role combines hands-on testing with analysis, documentation, and close collaboration with design and project teams. The Role Plan and deliver powertrain testing to validate technical requirements, de-risk engineering solutions, and support project certification. Develop and execute test procedures for performance, safety, robustness and compliance at cell, module, and pack level. Collaborate with engineering and project teams to align test timing with design and delivery milestones. Manage test facilities - both in-house and external - ensuring equipment, instrumentation, and processes meet requirements. Analyse test data, extract insights, and report findings clearly to engineering and management. Ensure test correlation with simulation and track data, continuously improving accuracy and efficiency. Produce high-quality test documentation, result sheets, and reports. Identify and escalate technical issues, supporting timely and robust solutions. Keep up to date with automotive legislation and testing standards. Contribute to the wider Powertrain Engineering team, delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective products. What We're Looking For Essential: Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport, or related Engineering discipline. 2 years' experience in automotive or motorsport engineering (OEM, Tier 1 or consultancy). Strong knowledge of EV powertrain systems, testing methods, and regulatory standards. Hands-on experience with hazardous voltage systems. Skilled in data analysis and test equipment use. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Organised, adaptable, and delivery-focused, with proven ability to work under pressure. Desirable: Advanced degree (MSc or equivalent). Knowledge of battery design and architectures. Familiarity with data analysis tools (Matlab, MoTeC, Vector, Excel VBA, etc.). Experience with CANbus and automotive communication protocols. Experience in testing ingress protection ratings.
