This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key role in advancing Cardiff University's goal of embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion, and becoming an anti‑racist institution. You will play a key role in fostering an inclusive culture where every member of our university community can achieve their fullest potential.
You will report to the Head of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the EDI Hub, located in the Vice‑Chairman’s Office. The team is dedicated to delivering the University’s EDI and anti‑racism ambitions through strategic leadership, collaborative partnership, and evidence‑informed approaches.
The post is full‑time (35 hours per week), available from July 2026 and fixed‑term until 31 July 2027. Applications for internal secondments are welcome.
Key Responsibilities
* You will lead a team dedicated to strengthening the University’s engagement with Charter Marks, including the Race Equality Charter, Athena Swan Charter, Stonewall Proud Employer Accreditation, University of Sanctuary, and a Disability Award. Your team will oversee robust programme management to support the preparation and submission of applications and ensure the effective implementation of related action plans. This work will align with the University’s Strategic Equality Plan (SEP) and directly contribute to achieving the University’s Success Measure within the Institutional Strategy, “Our Future Together.”
* You will work closely with the EDI Hub Programme Manager (Strategic Equality Plan) as well as key contacts and project leads across the University, to embed the SEP Objectives:
* Cynefin – the place where we feel we belong, a familiar habitat to which we are accustomed and in which we feel rooted. It signals a trusted relationship with a particular, recognised environment and its multiple interconnected relations.
* Tegwch – equity, fairness, justice or impartiality.
* Cyfrannu – the act and culture of contributing. It encapsulates the impact we have outside the University through our education, research, innovation, and civic mission.
* This position is a leadership role within the EDI Hub and will support the Head of EDI to lead positive change in the University. You will build strong relationships, work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues in departments, schools, and colleges, and external organisations and partners to achieve strategic objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
Desired qualifications and experience include
* Proven experience in leading and managing cross‑functional teams.
* Strong understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion frameworks, including experience with equity charters or similar campaigns.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership development skills.
* Effective programme management and project delivery experience.
* Strong communication skills, able to translate complex concepts into clear action plans.
Compensation
Salary: £51,039 – £55,755 per annum (Grade 7)
