Senior Sous Chef Location: Carnbrooke Position: Full-Time, Permanent Reporting to: Head of Cooked Food Production About Carnbrooke At Carnbrooke, producing exceptional food is at the very core of what we do. As we develop our kitchen structure to support future growth, we are looking for a talented Senior Sous Chef to join our team. The Role As Senior Sous Chef, you will act as the second-in-command in our fast paced food production kitchen. You will work directly under the Head of Cooked Food Production, helping to lead a dedicated team of chefs and kitchen porters. This role bridges the gap between high level culinary strategy and daily kitchen operations, ensuring our retail food products always meet exact standards. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day operations of the cooked food production kitchen to meet daily supply chain and retail demands. Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production chefs and kitchen porters to maintain a high-performance work culture. Enforce strict quality control measures to ensure consistency, flavour, and high artisanal quality across all product lines. Assist the Head Chef with New Product Development (NPD), bringing creative culinary ideas from concept to scaled production. Monitor kitchen efficiency, control food waste, and manage portion control to protect commercial margins. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Food Safety/Technical, and Distribution. Maintain rigorous food safety, allergen control, and hygiene standards in line with internal policies and legal regulations. Step up to lead the department in the absence of the Head of Cooked Food Production. About You Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a high-volume, fast-paced food production or manufacturing environment. Passion for working with high-quality, local ingredients and a strong eye for artisanal detail. Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing kitchen teams. Good commercial acumen with an understanding of kitchen yields, food costing, and production efficiency. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with other business departments. What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience.
