Carriera is partnering exclusively with a leading global real estate consultancy to recruit a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor with strong commercial portfolio experience to join their London Building Surveying team.
About the Role & Firm:
Our client, a prestigious international property consultancy with over 125 years’ heritage, is expanding its commercial surveying team in London. You will join a highly respected group, working on high-profile, visible projects across Central London and key commercial districts. This is a role for someone who thrives on both technical excellence and client interaction, in a collaborative environment that encourages leadership and development.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Lead and deliver complex commercial building surveying and consultancy commissions (e.g. dilapidations, technical due diligence, condition & defect surveys, measured surveys), with project values from £1m to £6m+.
* Contract administration for refurbishment, re-fit, remedial and refurbishment projects, using JCT, NEC or similar standard contracts.
* Oversee landlord & tenant advice, lease event-work, negotiations, dilapidations schedules, and liability assessments.
* Provide high-level client liaison: influencing briefs, managing expectations, building long-term relationships.
* Lead and mentor junior staff (including APC candidates), ensuring technical consistency, quality of report writing, presentation, and client deliverables.
* Support business development: participate in wins, identify fee-earners, help grow the commercial survey pipeline in London.
What We Need From You:
* Full MRICS membership (or equivalent chartered status).
* Minimum 5+ years post-qualification experience in commercial building surveying / consultancy (real estate/asset management/refurbishment).
* Proven track record of handling project delivery, contract administration, technical due diligence, dilapidations work, etc., ideally in prime Central London or other large commercial markets.
* Excellent communication skills: able to manage end-to-end client relationships, negotiate, present to non-technical stakeholders, etc.
* Strong technical backbone: building pathology, compliance with Building Regulations / health & safety / statutory obligations, defect diagnosis, sustainable / ESG awareness a plus.
* Leadership mindset: ability to lead teams, manage delivery, oversee quality, and help shape the direction of the team.
