We are looking for a motivated and driven pharmacist who is passionate about working with innovative clinical trial medicines that will be part of the cancer medicines of tomorrow. You will become our Advanced Pharmacist - Clinical Trials. This role involves an independent workload with full support from our Principal Pharmacist for Clinical Trials, helping patients gain access to clinical trials. There are opportunities to specialise clinically in a tumour-specific area within solid tumour services.
The Pharmacy clinical trials team is dedicated to implementing and ensuring the availability of clinical trials. Our large, diverse, and friendly Pharmacy team works within a cutting-edge clinical environment that supports forward-thinking and innovation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our team, supporting Trust-wide clinical trial implementation, liaising with aseptic services, MDT colleagues from clinical services, procurement, and our subsidiary, PharmaC.
You will collaborate with the clinical trials and R&D team to bring new innovative treatments into practice, review ongoing amendments to trials, and work closely with research practitioners.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing clinical, professional, and technical expertise to support high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy services to oncology patients at the Clatterbridge-Liverpool site.
2. Delivering highly specialised clinical pharmacy services to cancer patients.
3. Supporting the implementation of clinical trial chemotherapy electronic prescribing within the oncology service.
4. Providing medicines optimisation services, including dispensary duties, ward cover, and aseptic release cover when required.
The working pattern is 37.5 hours per week, including late duties, weekends, bank holidays, and on-call shifts. Prior experience in oncology or haematology is not required, as comprehensive clinical training will be provided. The role is likely to be split evenly between supporting and delivering the clinical trials portfolio and supporting clinical services across Clatterbridge, ideal for candidates wanting to maintain regular clinical contact alongside trial work.
