This is a 18 month FTC/Internal Secondment
Providing technical management/co-ordination and SME support to the Programmes Team and the wider Voyager Force. Guiding and influencing on Voyager capability development projects, in-service issues, upgrades, obsolescence, type certification, qualification and Military Release to Service with a focus on maintaining the relevance of the Voyager fleet.
Active development of an effective project delivery environment, promoting best practice in technical management, project management and culture within AirTanker.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical management/co-ordination and SME support on Voyager product enhancement/upgrade projects and programmes, in conjunction with the Head of Voyager Capability Development, Technical and Project Managers as well as other Business areas.
• Support the Head of Voyager Capability Development and other Technical Managers to maintain a capability development plan for the military configuration in conjunction with the UKMOD.
• Support the management of the Obsolescence Working Group and associated tracker, identifying and highlighting components and systems to the Voyager Delivery Team and RAF for escalation.
• Support frequent and productive contact with UKMOD, RAF and AirTanker Principle Sub-Contractors on issues relating to prototyping, ground and flight trials, certification, qualification, and current/future aircraft upgrade projects to ensure Voyager is able to meet our customers ongoing requirements.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential job holder qualification and experience
• Educated to degree/HNC level in engineering or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline.
• Registered or working towards Professional Incorporated/Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council UK.
• A good understanding of Military Mission Systems.
• Expected to be able to be autonomous in decision making, using previous technical experiences and knowledge of Military and Civilian aviation.
• An understanding of aircraft certification and qualification at platform and system level.
• Experience of Avionics development programmes on military aircraft.
• A proven ability to provide senior level written briefs on complex technical and programme issues.
• Able to demonstrate an ability to build cross functional and inter-company relationships and teams.
• A knowledge of A330 and military systems and use in an operational environment.
• Good working knowledge of MS Word/Excel, Visio, and MS Project and other core tools.
• Security cleared to SC, or ability to obtain.
Desirable job holder qualification and experience
• Experienced at presenting at senior levels.
• APM PFQ & PMQ Qualifications or equivalent.
