About the Facilities Department and Your Role: The Facilities team is responsible for maintaining all THG sites, ensuring that all colleagues and visitors are in a clean, safe environment while on site. Candidate will be primarily based at THG Experience Division - King Street Townhouse Hotel / KSTH Spa / Hale Country Club where the decorative services rendered from an integral part of revenue generating model of the business, and will be responsible for carrying out small fix and re-decorative works, elements of planned preventative maintenance, minor repairs of onsite assets, responding to faults and replacing defective parts as required, keeping appropriate paperwork and records associated with all areas of decorative, preventative and reactive maintenance and delivering a high quality finish appropriate with luxury profile of the site. Duties will include: Performing small fix and re-decorative works, including painting and wallpapering, as well as small scale walls and ceiling repairs to a high visual standard Carrying out a full range of preparatory works, to enable a quality decorative finish to be delivered, both externally and internally. This includes preparing surfaces with appropriate methods such as steaming, sanding or using power tools (blowtorches), repairing cracks, sealants and fillers as required in the preparation of woodwork and washing them down to remove dust and grease Undertaking any decorative works as required to deliver a quality finish to buildings and their components, both internally and externally. This includes a full spectrum of painting techniques stains, lacquers, enamel, oil, varnish, metal and fire resistant coating. Working at heights (with appropriate training) using scaffold, cherry-pickers, scaffolding, cradles and ladders. Ensuring efficient use of resources through effective ordering and use of materials, minimizing waste and recycling wherever safe and possible. This includes the safe-keeping and transport of materials and for checking undamaged materials on site. Completing minor tiling and joinery repairs such as replacement of tiling, skirting, floor tiling, silicone and grout replacement Removal and reinstatement of fixtures to allow for decoration Patching plaster finish to a good standard of finish Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all paperwork/electronic updates including timesheets within agreed timescales. Undertaking basic minor works outside of specific trade specialisms and undertake other duties that support the business needs e.g. secondary and tertiary skills in other trades Performing ongoing preventive maintenance and small repair work on as required in a supporting role Undertaking basic minor works outside of specific trade specialisms and undertake other duties that support the business needs e.g. secondary and tertiary skills in other trades Performing facility inspections and reporting on condition affecting operations Escorting specialist contractors and work beside them as required Responding to emergencies Supporting any after hours building needs and activities as required Performing other tasks assigned as requested depending on business needs Complying with all safety procedures and requirements Ensuring the safety of oneself and others at all times by working within THG Health and Safety policy and procedures associated with repair works, including working knowledge of statutory legislation with regards to health & safety and to understand the need for rigorous risk assessment and method statement procedures Occasional night and weekend works will be required to be performed depending on business needs. Role Requirements: Good literacy and numeracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience of working as a Painter / Decorator Technician within similar environment. Ability to plan ahead. Able to prioritize work and manage their own time Have the ability to work alone and in pairs and be able to use own initiative with minimum supervision. 'Can do' attitude Good understanding of PPE and the specific uses of equipment. Good level of understanding of basic General Health & Safety, Working at Heights, COSHH, CDM, Asbestos regulations Basic level of computer literacy and knowledge of MS Office packages. Relevant qualifications e.g. City & Guilds / NVQ 2-3 ONC, OND, would be an advantage 3 years' experience as a painter & decorator would be an advantage Good understating of working in a customer focused organization with enhanced emphasis on good level of aesthetic finish is a firm requirement
