AI Consultant (Contract) - Outside IR35 Location: London / Hybrid Contract: 6 months extensions Engagement: Outside IR35 Day Rate: £650 - £725 per day Working: Highly flexible We are seeking a highly skilled AI Consultant (Microsoft Copilot Specialist) to support the secure adoption, administration, and governance of AI technologies within a large enterprise environment. This is an outcome-driven engagement requiring a true Copilot SME who can operate independently across both advisory and hands-on delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring AI tools are deployed securely, compliantly, and effectively across the organisation. Key responsibilities: Act as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Copilot, providing guidance on secure configuration and tenant-level administration Design and implement governance frameworks for Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and AI agents Lead on secure deployment and adoption of Copilot, ensuring alignment with data protection and security standards Develop agentic identity and access management models, including service principals, managed identities, and permission controls Define and document AI identity lifecycle processes including creation, monitoring, rotation, and decommissioning Conduct security and compliance risk assessments for AI-enabled tools and provide mitigation strategies Produce security design documentation, policies, and standards for AI usage Provide expert-level advice to senior stakeholders on Copilot capabilities, risks, and best practices Support security investigations related to AI usage where required Skills and experience: Deep, specialist experience with Microsoft Copilot within enterprise M365 environments is essential Proven expertise in Copilot governance, security, and configuration at scale Strong hands-on experience with Copilot Studio and AI agent development Experience managing non-human or agentic identities in Microsoft Entra ID Solid background in information security, governance, risk, and compliance Ability to operate independently as a consultant or SME with minimal oversight Desirable: Experience working in regulated or high-risk environments Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Defender, and wider Microsoft security ecosystem Relevant information security or cloud certifications Requirements: Must be eligible to work in the UK Available for a 6-month contract with likely extensions If you are a Microsoft Copilot specialist with strong security and governance experience and are looking for a flexible, outside IR35 contract, we would be interested in hearing from you.
