Overview

Join to apply for the Ultrasonographer role at The Pudding.

Hours: Bank contract (Zero Hours). Pay: £23.60 - £32.06 dependent on experience. Base: Community clinics at sites across Blackpool, West Lancashire, Bolton & Leicester. Reports to: Ultrasound Clinical Lead. Accountable to: Diagnostics Clinical Manager.

Location note: Community clinics at sites across Blackpool, West Lancashire, Bolton & Leicester.


Main Tasks & Responsibilities

* Perform and have expertise in a range of highly specialised non-obstetric ultrasound procedures/techniques in line with BMUS guidelines.
* Perform scans and provide accurate, reproducible reports completed within the timescales agreed by the Commissioners & Head of Diagnostics.
* Recognise the significance of investigation findings/diagnoses and act on these accordingly.
* Liaise closely with the Lead Sonographer & Consultant Radiologist and seek guidance/advice when required.
* Keep up to date with relevant policies and guidance (e.g., NICE).
* Contribute to maintaining standards and quality in service development of the Non-Obstetric Ultrasound service, including training of related staff and ongoing professional development.
* Participate in the implementation and ongoing delivery of the relevant service.
* Adhere to company policies and procedures and stay up to date with role-related changes.
* Build and maintain professional relationships with host practices and secondary care clinicians.
* Maintain equipment in safe working order and fully functional.


Maintaining Professional Standards and Training

* Obtain training and accreditation under the auspices of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and provide Basic Life Support (BLS) as required.
* Ensure equipment is safe and functional; demonstrate self-motivation for ongoing professional development.
* Hold HCPC registration or equivalent and maintain via Continuing Professional Development.
* Complete The Company Mandatory Training Programme as required.


Administrative Duties

* Access clinical systems to view patient records; general communication with administrative team via email and verbally.
* Maintain consumable stock levels at clinic and request stock.

Qualifications and Experience

* Qualifications
* Essential: PGDip or DMU (CASE accredited); HCPC or RCT registration; Commitment to ongoing personal development.
* Desirable: Evidence of postgraduate development, CPD or equivalent experience.
* Experience
* Essential: Experience in General abdominal, Gynae ultrasound.
* Desirable: Experience in MSK ultrasound; single-handed community work; project management; working within a complex environment; IT experience in US technology (e.g., PACS, RIS).
* Skills
* Essential: Excellent communication skills with people from all walks of life; telephone manner; ability to stay calm under pressure; interpersonal and teamwork skills; good organisational ability; IT literacy in Microsoft applications; problem solving.
* Personal Qualities
* Essential: Sensitivity to others; valuing diversity; team oriented; able to establish positive relationships internally and externally.
* Other
* Essential: Current driving licence with access to a car; willing to travel and occasional out-of-hours work; ability to meet tight deadlines.
