Role Overview
As part of the Legal & Governance Directorate, you will work alongside colleagues in Legal Services, Procurement and Democratic Services. You will provide legal advice and guidance on contracts, vires, governance and decision‑making for a range of high‑profile transport projects, including local bus franchising, light rail development and active travel initiatives.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping transformative transport initiatives, working closely with central government, regional leaders and major infrastructure partners, and gaining valuable experience across complex, multi‑agency projects.
Responsibilities
 * Advise on contracts, vires, governance and decision‑making for transport projects.
 * Support the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative transport initiatives such as bus franchising and light rail projects.
 * Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, external partners and stakeholders to ensure legal requirements are met.
 * Provide strategic legal insight on complex, multi‑agency transport projects and policy developments.
 * Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of transport legislation and best practice.
