Barclays UX Researcher – Northampton / Manchester

Join us as a UX Researcher where you’ll play a key role in understanding our customers’ needs, behaviours and pain points to inform design decisions and encourage insight‑led product development. You will lead the creation and execution of research projects utilising both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. This role sits within the Barclays Insight and Experience Design (BiXD) multidisciplinary design team.
Responsibilities
* Deliver end‑to‑end research programmes, synergistic with design, product, marketing, transformation and technology.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to brainstorm innovative design concepts and integrate research findings into all stages of the innovation cycle.
* Develop and test prototypes, mock‑ups or value propositions to support concept development and usability feedback.
* Monitor emerging technologies, industry trends, and societal changes that may impact customer experience and influence strategic decisions.
* Utilise analytics tools to extract insights from market research, surveys and feedback sessions.
* Manage research risks, especially Data Privacy, aligning with Chief Controls Office and Data Privacy Compliance.
* Oversee all research programmes, including colleague performance and departmental goals.
Essential Qualifications
* Hands‑on experience with a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in discovery and design concept phases.
* Ability to analyse, triangulate and present insights in a logical, engaging manner.
* Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to build research advocates.
* Strong communication, storytelling and presentation skills to inspire influence.
* Keen eye for detail, open to feedback and continuous learning.
* Ownership of projects, initiative and pace.

* Development and testing of prototypes, mock‑ups or value propositions.
* Monitoring of emerging technologies, industry trends, design best practices, societal changes and economic trends.
* Utilisation of data analytics tools to extract insights from market research, customer surveys and feedback sessions.
* Management of all risk relating to the Insight process, especially Data Privacy risk.
* Management of all Research programmes, including oversight of colleagues and performance.
