Join to apply for the Workshop Fitter/Plant Field Service Engineer role at Jarvie Plant Ltd. Based at the Nairn Depot (IV12 3QF), this role is primarily depot-based, helping to maintain and service equipment. You will also be on the road as required, travelling across the Highlands and surrounding areas depending on operational and customer needs. Whether supporting construction, industrial, or events-based projects, your expertise ensures our equipment operates safely, reliably, and to the highest standard for our customers.
Responsibilities
* Carry out servicing, inspections, and repairs at the depot to maintain equipment safety and performance.
* Attend customer sites as required to diagnose and repair faults on plant, tools, and site equipment.
* Replace worn parts, filters, and fluids to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
* Provide technical guidance and practical support to customers both at the depot and on-site.
* Maintain accurate service records and complete job documentation.
* Source, manage, and fit parts to complete repairs efficiently.
* Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments and checks.
* Escalate complex faults or issues to the Service Manager as needed.
* Represent Jarvie Plant professionally, delivering excellent service at all times.
What Will Make You a Great Fit
* Proven experience working with plant machinery, generators, or similar equipment, ideally in plant hire, construction, or industrial sectors
* Strong understanding of plant mechanics, operations, maintenance, and fault diagnosis
* Ability to work independently and resolve issues promptly and effectively
* Relevant qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
* CSCS Gold Card (preferred)
* Strong communication skills, especially in explaining technical issues clearly to customers
* A customer-first mindset with a professional approach
* Full UK driving licence
