This is an exciting opportunity to help Canterbury Environment Company, manage its high-profile and universal waste and street cleansing service. We are looking for a team player who will be able to carry out our refuse and recycling collections across the Canterbury District whilst complying with health and safety requirements. You will be collecting refuse and recycling containers and bags, ensuring bins are loaded correctly and returning reusable containers once emptied. You will ensure that all spillages are cleared up and work with drivers to ensure that key information such as missed bins is recorded. You will also need to assist the driver in carrying out daily checks, defect reports and vehicle exterior and interior washing and cleaning. The job can be physically demanding at times so you will need to be able to walk long distances and be happy to work in all weather conditions. In return, we offer a permanent and full time contract with guaranteed hours and company benefits including a pension scheme. There will be opportunities to work overtime and you will be required to work on a Saturday when a catch-up service is running. You will undertake a comprehensive induction and full uniform and PPE will be provided. Canterbury is a great place to work. Nestled in the Garden of England in east Kent, the district covers the bustling city of Canterbury with its World Heritage Sites and three universities, the popular coastal towns of Herne Bay and Whitstable as well as 24 beautiful villages.
