A hands‑on support role working alongside experienced Mechanical Fitters across workshop and site. You'll help with rebuilds, installations and maintenance on critical assets, with training, overtime opportunities and a clear pathway to progress to Mechanical Fitter.

What you'll do
Assist Mechanical Fitters with mechanical assembly, refurbishment and maintenance
Prepare components (cleaning, de‑burring, basic fitting, fasteners to torque under supervision)
Support strip‑downs, rebuilds, alignments and inspections
Handle tools, equipment and parts, maintaining good tool control
Assist with on‑site installations, servicing, repairs and basic fault‑finding support
Support lifting/rigging operations (banksman/slinging assistance under supervision)
Read and follow work instructions, RAMS and basic engineering drawings
Maintain safe, clean and organised work areas (workshop and site)
Follow ISO 9001 quality procedures and ISO 45001 health & safety standards
Occasionally assist with loading/unloading, parts runs and general labouring tasks
What you'll bring (essential)
Practical mechanical aptitude and a hands‑on approach
Comfortable with hand and power tools; keen to learn and progress
Safety‑conscious with good housekeeping and attention to detail
Physically fit for manual handling and varied site environments
Full UK driving licence
Positive attitude, reliable and a strong team player
Willing to work overtime and travel to sites when required
Right to work in the UK
Nice to have
Experience as a Fitter's Mate/Labourer in engineering, manufacturing or heavy industry
Experience in water or quarrying sectors
Basic ability to interpret engineering drawings and use measuring tools
Useful tickets/training (training can be provided): Forklift, MEWP, Abrasive Wheels, Slinging/Signalling, CSCS/CCNSG, EUSR Water Hygiene, First Aid
