General Description
The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint an ARC Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Rehabilitation within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), part of the Medical Sciences Division. NDORMS is the largest academic department in Europe in its field and hosts a globally competitive programme of research and teaching. The role is based at the Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences, which supports innovative research into the causes and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases.
This position contributes to collaborative research within the Age Well Theme and across the wider Applied Research Collaboration (ARC), engaging with clinical, policy, voluntary sector, and public partners. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing rehabilitation research, particularly in community and primary healthcare settings, and in addressing the needs of underserved populations.
The role is part-time (40% FTE) and fixed-term until 31 March 2028. The University offers a dynamic and internationally recognized research environment committed to addressing global challenges.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in applied health research or possess equivalent research experience. Experience working with diverse patient groups, particularly underserved communities, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to contribute to established research programmes with a strong academic foundation.
Required Expertise/Skills
Candidates should have specialist knowledge in applied health research, with demonstrated expertise in qualitative and/or mixed methods research. Experience conducting research in primary healthcare or community-based settings is highly desirable. Strong engagement skills with patients, participants, and multidisciplinary stakeholders are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively across research, clinical, and policy environments.
Salary Details
Grade 7 salary in the range of £39,424–£42,794 per annum, inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata for 40% FTE).
