<div><p>We are seeking a dynamic orthoptist to join our large team of Orthoptists over the multiple Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust sites, across North London. This post will be primarily based at Barnet Hospital and Edgware Hospital, but may involve cover at other sites.</p><p>This vacancy has a good mix of clinical work focusing on orthoptics & glaucoma, along with leadership opportunities.</p><p>Overall it is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Orthoptist with excellent communication skills, and strong clinical background in Orthoptics.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><p>To provide a high-quality orthoptic service as an autonomous, highly specialist practitioner, delivering both preventative and therapeutic care in line with the professional standards of the British and Irish Orthoptic Society (BIOS).</p><p>As part of the glaucoma service: assess, diagnose, treat and educate patients using advanced clinical skills and specialist glaucoma knowledge.</p><p>Co-manage complex and unstable glaucoma cases alongside Ophthalmologists, in the multidisciplinary Glaucoma team.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>To possess an Orthoptic degree or diploma.</li><li>HCPC registration</li><li>BIOS Clinic Tutors Course/ equivalent</li><li>Higher Education Certificate in Glaucoma</li></ul><h3>Work Experience</h3><ul><li>Extensive experience in all aspects of clinical Orthoptics involving specialist services.</li><li>Evidence of CPD</li><li>Demonstrate knowledge and clinical skills relevant to Orthoptics and extended roles.</li><li>To have had experience of working in Glaucoma clinics: assessing, diagnosing and treating patients</li></ul><h3>Skills and Aptitudes</h3><ul><li>To be able to show good working relationships at all levels and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team or independently.</li><li>To be able to work under pressure in a busy environment, whilst maintaining high quality Orthoptic practise.</li><li>To be able to consistently communicate effectively with patients and staff at all levels in a professional and respectful manner</li><li>The ability to handle difficult situations calmly and effectively to deal with patients, tactfully, efficiently and with empathy</li></ul><h3>Royal Free World Class Values</h3><ul><li>Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values</li></ul><h3>Personal Qualities & Attributes</h3><ul><li>To be flexible in covering cross sites for the Trust and acceptance of changes to timetables</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.</p><p>£55,524 to £62,652 a yearPer annum inclusive of HCAS (Pro rata)</p></div>
