Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Elective Home Education Officer to join Wakefield Council on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week. About the Role This is a key front-facing role, supporting families and schools at the point where parents are considering withdrawing their child from school to electively home educate. You will act as the first point of contact, bringing together families, pupils, and schools to explore whether continued attendance at school is in the child’s best interests — or to support the transition to home education where this is confirmed. Key Responsibilities: * Liaise with schools, parents/carers, and pupils following notification of intent to home educate * Attend and facilitate meetings with all parties to reach agreement on the best course of action for the child * Engage in effective and sensitive negotiation to explore alternatives to home education where appropriate * Collaborate with Education Welfare Officers for ongoing case management * RAG rate (Red-Amber-Green) all cases and identify any safeguarding concerns * Research background information for each referral and accurately update the case management database * Ensure all work is carried out in line with statutory guidance and local policy on EHE * Build str...
