Support Worker at Our Support Units in Croydon
As a Support Worker, you will be passionate about supporting, empowering, and guiding residents to live as independently as possible with our continued guidance. You will make a difference every day to their personal goals and desired outcomes.
What You Can Expect:
* £12.60 to £13.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
* 45 hours per week, 8am to 6pm on a rota basis, covering alternate weekends.
Role Responsibilities:
* Work based on agreed support plans and risk assessments to help residents achieve their personal development and goals, which are reviewed and evolve over time.
* Support and inspire residents, providing tools and resources to develop skills, confidence, and independence.
* Provide comprehensive support using a strengths-based approach to address practical and emotional needs.
* Collaborate with external services related to alcohol and substance misuse to enhance support.
* Develop activities to promote routines, including daily living skills, housekeeping, laundry, cooking, personal hygiene, and wellbeing.
* Assist with financial management, ensuring residents access benefits and services.
* Support residents in recognizing mental health needs and adhering to prescribed medications.
* Record and report incidents, update support plans, and maintain documentation.
* Create SMART support plans and risk assessments to empower residents and ensure safety from harm, abuse, or neglect.
* Work within legislative and company guidelines and procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
* Must be based in the UK; no visa sponsorship available.
* Enthusiastic, respectful, patient, and kind.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for concise updates and reports.
* Experience in supported housing or similar environments, understanding issues like homelessness, substance misuse, and mental health.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Patient, empathetic, and a good listener, especially with residents who have experienced trauma or neglect.
* Reflective working approach to empower residents.
* Professional and respectful with colleagues and residents.
* Willing to participate in planning and activities with the team.
Experience working with complex service users with drug and alcohol dependency is preferred.
* Ability to follow company policies and procedures.
* Flexibility to work shifts on weekdays and weekends.
