Under the direct supervision of the RN and Site Leadership and reporting to Women's Health Leadership, the Licensed Practical Nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team by assisting in planning and implementing care interventions while promoting high quality patient care in a professional, efficient, safe manner. The LPN participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice, standards, and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The LPN demonstrates core and unit-specific competencies based on the patient population served and is committed to maintaining the standards of nursing practice. The LPN is responsible for delivering care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or elderly patients within their scope of practice, including those experiencing infertility, cancer, high-risk pregnancy, loss of pregnancy, etc. The LPN will assist with day-to-day patient flow for Women's Health clinicians, including medication administration, patient outreach, education, high-level disinfection, sterilization, phlebotomy (including finger sticks), chaperoning during exams, assisting in gynecologic and OB procedures (e.g., PAP exams, LEEP, Colposcopy, Endometrial Biopsy, Pregnancy Termination/Miscarriage, Amniocentesis), and specimen processing. The LPN must comply with patient rights and confidentiality standards, maintaining privacy, respect, and dignity, while advocating for patient well-being and understanding customer service and sensitivity needs of female patients.
Please note: This position may require travel to other Women’s Health OB/GYN locations within NYC and Westchester areas (Eastchester, Scarsdale, Bronx East, Kossuth, Brook Avenue, Hartsdale, Wakefield, Weiler, and Moses campuses) as needed.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (Weekend coverage as needed)
Responsibilities include:
* Performing medication handling and administration per policies.
* Assisting in environmental and practice readiness initiatives.
* Providing patient education per guidelines.
* Explaining treatments, procedures, medications, and clinician instructions.
* Conducting patient outreach aligned with departmental goals.
* Advocating for patients by listening, responding, and escalating as needed.
* Monitoring patient progress and rooming patients with proper identification.
* Preparing patients for clinician visits, including vital signs and screening tools.
* Maintaining work and patient care areas with supplies and instruments.
* Effective communication with patients and reporting condition changes.
* Monitoring safety standards and equipment condition.
* Identifying learning needs and attending educational sessions.
* Ensuring logs and specimens are updated per policy.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* New York State Practical Nurse License and registration.
* Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.
* Minimum 1-year LPN experience preferred.
* 2-3 years of hands-on patient care, ambulatory care, OB/GYN experience preferred.
* Basic computer skills.
* Effective communication skills in English.
