Angel Meadow School is a brand-new independent special school for pupils aged 11–16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). All pupils have identified special educational needs, including communication needs, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs. We are a small, nurturing and ambitious school, with class sizes of no more than five pupils, supported by a strong team of teaching assistants. Our aim is to provide every pupil with a personalised, meaningful curriculum that builds confidence, skills and future pathways.
We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who is adaptable, confident and committed to supporting young people with SEND. This role involves delivering learning activities across a range of subjects, including core literacy (English), ICT and wider foundation and vocational learning, under the direction of a qualified teacher. We welcome applications from candidates seeking full-time or part-time (0.6–0.9 FTE) positions.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities across KS3–KS4, including English, ICT and foundation and vocational subjects, under the direction of a qualified teacher
• Lead small-group and whole-class sessions when required
• Support pupils to access learning in a calm, structured and supportive environment
• Adapt learning materials and delivery to meet pupils’ EHCP targets and individual needs
• Support behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
• Work closely with teachers to implement lesson plans and intervention programmes
• Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress, engagement and attainment
• Support assessment activities and record keeping as directed by teaching staff
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive and well-organised classroom environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider staff
• Support pupils during transitions, breaks, enrichment activities and trips
• Attend CPD, training and staff meetings
• Follow safeguarding, behaviour and SEND policies at all times
• Contribute to wider school life as required
