Trainee Healthcare Support Worker
Job Summary
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offers a training pathway for individuals who wish to develop a career as a Healthcare Support Worker. The role requires an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience; those who do not yet meet this requirement will be supported through a 6‑month training programme. Salary during the training period is aligned to the National Living Wage. Upon successful completion of the programme, pay will progress to Agenda for Change Band 3. The training also covers completion of the NVQ Level 3 in partnership with Cheshire College (21‑month programme delivered on‑site).
Responsibilities
* Complete and be signed off on required clinical skills.
* Achieve the Care Certificate (if not already held) or complete the Trust’s Practical Assessment Documentation.
* Complete all mandatory training requirements.
* Participate in the NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care programme.
* Support the Trust’s goal of providing safe, kind, and effective care.
Essential Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (e.g. A‑Levels, NVQ 3) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
* Completion of the Care Certificate within the specified timeframe on commencing employment.
* In‑depth understanding of the healthcare support worker role.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience working in a clinical environment and undertaking a range of relevant clinical skills with proven competencies.
* Experience working within the NHS.
* Knowledge of the responsibilities of a healthcare support worker.
* Demonstrated ability to promote patient independence.
Desirable
* Additional clinical duties and activities as defined by the registered nurse delegation.
