A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I'm a 11‑year‑old boy living in Llanharry with my family. I have Down's Syndrome. I am cheeky, funny and fun‑loving. I sometimes show aggression but only towards my mum, my safe space.
Like any child, I have stubborn moments and can be challenging. I need someone who will work with me in an empathetic way.
I’m sensitive to loud noises and do not fully understand safety awareness. Without constant supervision I could injure myself or do something unsafe, so the caregiver must be vigilant.
I have a milk allergy, which will be discussed in more detail at an interview.
PURPOSE OF JOB
Support me in the community, encourage my independence and living skills, and ensure my mum knows I am safe.
HOURS OF WORK
* 3 hours per week during term‑time
* 12 hours per week for the 6 weeks of summer holidays
* 9 hours per week for the remaining 7 weeks of all other school holidays
RATE OF PAY
£13.00 per hour and £0.40 per mile when I am in the car with you.
TASKS INVOLVED
* Take me to my favourite places and activities such as the park, bowling, and cinema
* Remind and assist me to use the toilet
* Assist me in case of a toileting accident
* Keep me safe in the community and be mindful of possible danger around us
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
* Awareness and understanding of childcare and safety
* Patient, kind and friendly
* Must be sensible, mature and reliable
* Full UK driver’s licence and access to a car is essential
ABOUT THE JOB
This part‑time role is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part‑time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period. Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
