Special School Assistant - Southampton - September Start!\n\nAcademics are recruiting on behalf of an 'Outstanding' Primary SEN School in Southampton who are looking to appoint an experienced and compassionate Special School Assistant to join them in September.\n\nThis is a full-time, term-time contract. If you are looking for a permanent position and get on well, they will look to take you on a temp to perm contract so please only apply if you are ultimately looking for a permanent position.\n\nTo be considered for this position you MUST have GCSE C or above in English and Maths, or level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths.\n\nThe position is full-time, term-time - Mon-Fri 8.45am-3.15pm.\n\nThey are looking for a hardworking and resilient Special School Assistant who is able to build positive relationships with young people. Someone who can support, motivate and encourage the children with their learning and act as a positive role model.
If you are looking for a rewarding and satisfying job, this role is for you. \n\nThe school in Southampton caters for pupils aged 4-11 with complex learning difficulties including autism, speech and language disorders and challenging behaviours. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
\n\nThe successful Special School Assistant will ideally have had experience of working with children within a school setting. Experience of using PECS, Makaton etc would be an advantage. They are looking for support staff who are compassionate, enthusiastic, reliable and resilient.\n\nYou will be supporting classes of up to 9 pupils with 1 class teacher and 3 Special School Assistant's.
