Our vision at Tesco is to become every customer's favourite way to shop, whether they are at home or out on the move. Our core purpose is ‘Serving our customers, communities and planet a little better every day’. Serving means more than a transactional relationship with our customers. It means acting as a responsible and sustainable business for all stakeholders, for the communities we are part of, and for the planet.
As a Graduate Analytics Engineer on the Cyber Analytics team, you will help transform raw data into organised, usable, well-documented, and tested data models. These models will support security teams in drawing insights, developing reporting capabilities, advanced analytics, and solutions to enhance our security defenses.
You will work closely with cross-functional security and data teams to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and accessibility of security data.
As an Associate Graduate Analytics Engineer, you will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and make an immediate impact across our teams, products, and customers.
You will follow our Business Code of Conduct and always act with integrity and due diligence, focusing on these specific risk responsibilities:
* Data Integration and Transformation: Assist in implementing ETL/ELT processes to move data between different layers (raw, trusted, and curated) of the data lake, supporting various real-time and batch cyber use cases.
* Data Modeling: Support the development of logical and physical data models for cyber data products to aid threat detection, incident response, and reporting.
* Coding and Documentation: Contribute to raising the quality of the team's codebase by producing high-quality code and documentation of data pipelines, data models, and their quality metrics.
* Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders and data team members, actively participating in monitoring and improving the data quality of cyber data products.
You should have a strong passion for big data, data modeling, data quality, and ETLs, with proficiency in SQL and programming languages like Python.
Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, ETL and ELT frameworks, data modeling, and orchestration tools like Airflow and dbt is desirable.
Experience with cloud data platforms such as Databricks on Azure or similar technologies is a plus, as you will be working on these platforms.
You should have an understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, and general data management concepts, including some experience with BI tools like Tableau.
A desire to learn about cybersecurity principles and practices is important.
You will need strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with team members and stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to engineering and development are essential.
