About the Role
We are looking for a Data Quality Officer to help ensure that data recorded in the hospital information systems achieves the highest possible level of accuracy, completeness and timeliness. Working within the Data Quality team, this role is responsible for designing and carrying out checks on key hospital data, identifying issues and ensuring a satisfactory resolution. The successful applicant will be organised, methodical, and must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, work autonomously, and communicate professionally. Strong IT skills (especially Microsoft Excel) and knowledge of NHS data and terminology are required.
Main Duties
* Run routine checks and reports on Epic system to identify errors and inconsistencies, and provide feedback on problem areas.
* Help identify data quality improvement opportunities, support staff, and act as an ambassador for high data quality standards.
* Respond to requests and resolve queries received verbally, via email and reports on a daily basis.
* Liaise with Medical Secretaries, Administrative staff, Clinical Business Unit management teams and clinicians to resolve missing, incomplete or ambiguous data.
* Perform routine Data Quality checks on data entered onto the Epic system.
* Run routine Data Quality reports from Epic on errors or inconsistencies in administrative patient and activity recording data to ensure national standards are met.
* Interpret these reports using NHS data definitions and hospital procedures to identify the source of errors.
* Liaise with the Data Quality Manager to identify themes, solutions, and highlight training needs within the Trust.
* Assist in carrying out regular audits within the team, auditing data from Admissions, Referrals and other Clinic Areas, and resolve any Data Quality problems.
* Assist in training new team members in all Data Quality Team tasks and responsibilities.
Qualifications
* Excellent IT skills with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Strong communication skills, able to explain complex problems simply to a wide range of people.
* Working knowledge of NHS data and terminology.
* Organised, methodical, high attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously and proactively.
