Description
The postholder must be able to work under pressure, on their own initiative, be inquisitive, and give keen attention to detail. The role involves day‑to‑day investigation and handling of freight liability claims, reporting to the Supervisor and Claims Manager. Training will be provided as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
* Logging claims on database, retrieving documents from the internal Phoenix system and global offices.
* Determining where loss or damage occurs through documentation and inquiries.
* Reviewing international conventions, contract terms and conditions.
* Determining defenses to and monetary limits of liability to decide if we have liability and the amount.
* Instructing surveyors/lawyers.
* Advising/liaising with insurers.
* Corresponding with Group offices, insurers, clients, third‑party claimants (subrogated insurers, surveyors, lawyers etc).
* Negotiating and adjusting claims from first notification to final settlement.
* Processing payment of claims.
* Pursuing recovery of paid claims.
* General administration.
* Collating file documents.
* Internal group discovery & research.
* Assistance with Group insurance policy renewal, claim stats reporting, department projects, data entry on claims system.
* Issuing intent‑to‑claim & claim acknowledgement letters.
* Invoicing (processing claims payments and inter‑company invoices).
* Closure and archiving of files.
