Design Engineer - Industrial Machinery
Up to £50,000 | Gloucester | Office‑Based
Mploy Group is partnering with a well‑established global engineering manufacturer to recruit a Design Engineer to support the design and development of heavy‑duty industrial machinery used worldwide.
This is a varied, technically hands‑on role, ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across full machine design, bespoke tooling, and detailed manufacturing output.
The Opportunity
You'll play a key role in designing large‑scale industrial press and production machinery supplied into global markets, while also developing new tooling solutions for machines already in operation internationally. The role offers genuine variety, blending new product design with continuous improvement and problem‑solving on existing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed manufacturing drawings for heavy‑duty industrial machinery
* Design and develop bespoke tooling for machines operating globally
* Create full 3D machine designs from concept through to manufacture
* Support the design of new machines for international customersDesign and modify tooling and assemblies for existing installed equipment
* Work closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical, robust, and cost‑effective
* Contribute to continuous improvement of machine performance and reliability
Technical Requirements
* Proven experience as a Design Engineer within machinery or industrial equipment
* Strong 3D CAD capability — Solid Edge preferred, SolidWorks also considered
* Experience producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings
* Background in heavy machinery, mechanical systems, or industrial automation
Desirable (Advantageous) Experience
* Exposure to hydraulic system design, particularly high‑load applications
* Understanding of electrical layouts or system integration
* Experience working with large, high‑force machinery (up to 20‑tonne systems)
