DIO Estates have vacancies for a chartered surveyors to work within our Acquisition and Disposals (A&D) and Major Projects (MP) Teams.
* Major Projects: The role as part of the team is responsible for defining, and delivering, the future use and redevelopment of large surplus MoD sites and determining the eventual disposal strategy for them. Involvement ranges from early assessment work to MoD closure and vacation, through to final freehold disposal. Often former major barracks and airfields the team promote sites through the town planning process, working in close engagement with regional and local stakeholders. Involvement continues through all stages of design into delivery and can include procuring and setting up development management agreements with industry partners and investors. From thereon in there is a role in scrutinising all aspects of delivery and disposal, and which sees these ex-MoD sites comprehensively redeveloped to provide new homes, community facilities, schools, leisure, and employment land.
* Acquisitions and Disposals: The role is key to the delivery of disposal projects in DIO Estates. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate a variety of different activities to realise the best outcomes from the sale of redundant MOD assets. This could be anything from an individual dwelling to a former Barracks site extending to hundreds of hectares. You will work with town planners, valuers, site closure experts and an extensive supply chain to de-risk the asset prior to marketing and will also communicate with many different stakeholders, both internal and external, to sustain and enhance the reputation of DIO Estates as an expert professional advisor and responsible practitioner on behalf of the Secretary of State for Defence. These are exciting opportunities to join our nationwide network of highly skilled Surveyors, and we are looking for motivated suitability qualified property professionals to join and lead established teams, working closely with military and civilian colleges delivering varied estate activities, programmes, and subject matter professional advice.
Main Responsibilities
All Senior Surveyor roles within Estates oversee and manage a wide range of programmes and services alongside the provision of subject matter expert advice and communications with all key stakeholders.
The work is extremely varied and wide ranging, but key activities for each of the roles will include:
Major Projects:
* Working closely with private sector partners on large scale regeneration projects.
* Scrutinising proposals across all areas of project delivery including annual business plans, contract performance, interim third-party use, greenspace management, town and country planning submissions and disposal strategies.
* Concluding sale and purchase and other transactional agreements.
* Contributing and reporting within business area and wider including DIO Board and Ministers.
* External communications and liaison with key stakeholders.
Acquisitions and Disposals:
* Managing disposal projects from inception through to completion. You will set your budget and determine what actions are required to achieve the best outcomes.
* Working with our experienced technical supplier teams to secure the best planning and disposal strategies and taking each sale through vacation and into disposal.
* Communicating with customers and partners to ensure smooth passage through the disposal process.
* Administering and reporting to agreed timelines. You will maintain good records and be transparent in your approach.

Essential Experience:
Please use examples to demonstrate relevant, suitable experience and knowledge at an appropriate level in general Estate Management, including:
* Negotiation of agreements for interests in land (i.e. Lease, Licence, Sale Agreements, Development Agreements, etc.)
* Property Marketing & Sales
* Asset Management Initiatives
* Property Valuation
* Understanding Development Appraisals
* Planning Promotion Strategy
* Budget Management
* Landlord & Tenant.
* Strategic planning, development control, planning and project management.
* Senior Stakeholder Engagement.
* Disposal of major/complex sites and development management.
* Working within a complex organisational environment.
Licences
Essential: Full Driving Licence: Post holders will be required to travel to the sites covered by the post on a regular basis and some sites are difficult to access via public transport.
Qualifications
Essential: RICS accredited Degree OR Qualification
Memberships
Essential: Full membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS).
