A well‑established specialty insurance MGA platform is seeking a Head of Finance to take ownership of finance leadership across a growing UK and international business. This is a senior role focusing on accurate reporting, robust controls and strong governance aligned to regulatory and capacity provider expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Leadership & Governance
* Own the end-to-end finance function, including financial controls, policies and governance
* Act as senior finance partner to the COO and Executive Team, providing clear insight on performance, risks and opportunities
* Maintain and enhance a strong financial control framework appropriate for an MGA environment
Reporting & Compliance
* Full responsibility for statutory accounts, VAT, audit and regulatory financial reporting
* Lead the annual audit process and manage external auditor relationships
* Ensure timely, accurate management accounts, budgets and forecasts
* Oversee FCA-related financial compliance in collaboration with Risk & Compliance
Technical & Operational Finance
* Oversight of technical accounting, including premiums, commissions, claims funds, bordereaux and profit commission
* Ensure accurate month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and approvals
* Financial oversight of delegated authority arrangements and capacity provider reporting
* Support financial due diligence for new business, acquisitions or portfolio changes
FP&A & Commercial Support
* Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
* Provide decision support and financial modelling to support growth and profitability
* Develop cost management and performance monitoring frameworks
* Lead and develop a small finance team, including performance management and succession planning
Personal Profile
* Senior finance leadership experience within an MGA, insurer, Lloyd’s syndicate or broker
* Strong background in statutory reporting, audit and regulatory finance
* Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS; IFRS 17 exposure beneficial)
* Solid understanding of MGA operations, delegated authority and bordereaux processes
* Experience with finance systems and strong Excel modelling skills
* Commercial, detail‑oriented and delivery‑focused
* Comfortable operating in a growth‑oriented, entrepreneurial environment
* Trusted advisor to senior stakeholders with clear communication skills
* High standards of integrity, governance and professionalism
