Interim Director of Finance and Operations (6 to 12 month contract)
Our client, a national youth-focused charity, is seeking an experienced finance and operations leader to guide the organisation through the next phase of development. You will provide clarity, stability and momentum while strengthening core infrastructure across finance, people, governance, technology and organisational effectiveness.
This role suits someone who can think strategically and deliver practically. You will oversee financial management and statutory compliance, support organisational planning and transformation, and ensure systems, data and technology are set up to help teams work well together. You will work closely with the CEO, senior leaders and the board, driving operational excellence and embedding a culture that prioritises equity, safeguarding and meaningful youth involvement.
What you'll lead
* Strategic financial planning, reporting and business modelling to ensure organisational resilience
* Finance, HR, governance, people strategy, technology, data and facilities
* A modernisation agenda that strengthens decision-making, systems and ways of working
* Shared organisational planning and prioritisation that turns strategy into delivery
* Compliance, risk frameworks, audit, GDPR, company secretary duties and charity regulation
* Development of high performing teams and culture built on inclusion, accountability and learning
What you need to bring
* Proven leadership across finance, operations, people and governance at senior level
* Skilled strategic financial planner comfortable influencing board decision-making
* Experience leading organisational change, strengthening systems and embedding new ways of working
* A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong charity finance knowledge
* Ability to communicate financial and operational insight clearly to varied audiences
* Commitment to equity, anti-oppressive practice, safeguarding and youth-centred work
* Confident line manager who builds capability and brings people with them through change
This is a role for someone who can drop in, take the reins and leave things better than they found them. If you can balance strategic oversight with operational grip, influence at pace and help an organisation thrive in a period of transition, we should talk.
