Responsibilities
* Join a 10-chemist production team focused on small-scale manufacture (5 L–20 L) of flavour and fragrance chemicals for the global food industry.
* Apply established synthetic organic chemistry techniques to produce flavour and fragrance compounds, including esterifications, reductions, oxidations, condensations, with careful control of temperature, pH and reagent addition.
* Assist with routine manufacturing and the introduction of new processes; contribute to scaling up and optimising synthetic routes.
* Perform distillation as the main purification method, often under reduced pressure, using equipment such as rotary evaporators, short-path distillation setups and vacuum pumps; manage boiling points and separation techniques.
* Carry out post-synthesis purification and laboratory work in one of two dedicated production laboratories designed for small-scale synthesis (typically 5 L–20 L). Maintain a hands-on, collaborative environment with emphasis on precision, safety and quality control.
* Support process documentation and operate in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs); ensure lab safety protocols and chemical handling standards are followed.
* Engage in quality control (QC) activities and contribute to process optimization and continual improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
