Job Title: Student Engagement & Behaviour Mentor
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne, Gateshead & Durham
Salary: £13.68- £14.00 per hour
Hours: between 8:30 - 3:30
Overview
Are you passionate about helping young people get back on track in their learning? We’re looking for a Student Engagement Mentor to work one-on-one with students who may be disengaged or struggling in school. Your role will be to build strong, trusting relationships, supporting students to develop resilience, confidence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-on-one support to students, focusing on learning, emotional well-being, and engagement.
* Mentor and guide students to develop social skills, coping strategies, and a positive mindset.
* Implement effective behaviour management techniques to overcome challenges.
* Work alongside teachers, families, and support staff to create personalised support plans.
* Respond to crises promptly, ensuring student safety and well-being.
* Keep accurate records of interactions, progress, and incidents.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working with young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or disengagement.
* Strong communication skills, empathy, and patience.
* Ability to build rapport quickly and work collaboratively with others.
* Knowledge of behaviour management, mental health, and educational engagement strategies.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Safeguarding Level 3, PREVENT Awareness) are desirable.
* DBS on the update service preferred.
* Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
