Hours: 8:45 AM – 2:45 PM, Monday – Friday (Term-Time Only)
Pay: £13.70 per hour
Start Date: As soon as clearance is completed
Location: Newcastle (NE3)
Contract: Temporary (with potential for a permanent role)
Are you enthusiastic about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the resilience and sense of humour needed to make a real difference?
We are recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist SEMH alternative education provider in Newcastle. This role is expected to continue until the end of the academic year and beyond, with opportunities for permanent employment.
The Role
1. Supporting students who experience barriers to learning due to SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
2. Building positive relationships to engage and motivate young people
3. Implementing behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and learning
4. Working closely with teaching staff and external professionals to provide tailored support
What We Are Looking For
1. Experience working with young people in an education, care, or support setting
2. Understanding of mental health needs and neurological conditions
3. A resilient nature, positive attitude, and a good sense of humour
4. The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations
While formal experience in a similar role is beneficial, we welcome applicants with transferable skills from youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or similar backgrounds.
