Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to oversee operational management at our Residential Care Home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior care, long-term care management, and supervision within a care home environment. This role requires leadership skills, compassion, and a commitment to providing high-quality care for residents with diverse needs, including dementia and memory care. The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Care Manager in ensuring smooth daily operations, compliance with care standards, and fostering a safe, respectful environment for residents and staff.
Duties
* Assist in managing daily operations of the residential care facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies
* Supervise and support caregiving staff, including training and performance evaluations
* Oversee the development and implementation of personalized care plans for residents, including dementia care
* Coordinate medication administration in accordance with healthcare regulations
* Monitor resident well-being, addressing individual needs related to memory care, developmental disabilities, or other health conditions
* Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts
* Support residents' social activities and engagement programs to promote quality of life
* Deputise for the Registered Care Home Manager and represent the home as required.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and community resources to optimize resident care.
* Ensure safety protocols are followed and maintain a secure environment for residents with complex needs
* Participate in the recruitment of staff and volunteers, secure their induction, learning & development, staff rostering, regular supervision, appraisal & disciplinary matters consistent with safe employment, sound & supportive care practice & safeguarding.
Qualifications
* Minimum Level 3 NVQ in Adult Health & Social Care with a willingness to undertake completion to Level 5 NVQ Management.
* Proven experience in senior care within an elderly care facility.
* Strong background in long-term care management, supervision, and operations management
* Knowledge of dementia care, memory care strategies, and resident's individualized care plans
* Certification or experience in medication administration and healthcare regulations.
* Leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff effectively and foster teamwork
* Compassionate approach to resident-centered care with excellent communication skills
