Ultrasound Specialist - Surgical Technology Innovation - Cambridge

A pioneering surgical technology team near Cambridge is seeking a talented ultrasound scientist to help shape the future of medical innovation. This opportunity is particularly well-suited to a PhD graduate, postdoctoral researcher, or early-career professional with a strong foundation in ultrasound and a desire to apply their expertise to real-world challenges. You\'ll be involved in the development of advanced surgical platforms, including sensor-integrated instruments and robotic systems, contributing across the full product lifecycle—from early-stage concept development to final deployment.

You\'ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams and engage directly with clients, helping to shape strategy and deliver commercially valuable outcomes. Alongside this, you\'ll have the chance to build your profile within the surgical technology community, supported by experienced peers and a culture that values technical freedom, shared ideas, and entrepreneurial thinking.


Responsibilities

* Contribute to the development of advanced surgical platforms, including sensor-integrated instruments and robotic systems, across the full product lifecycle from concept to deployment.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage directly with clients to shape strategy and deliver commercially valuable outcomes.
* Build and develop a profile within the surgical technology community through technical excellence and collaboration.


Qualifications

* PhD or equivalent experience in biomedical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
* Background may include research into acoustic sensing, imaging systems, or transducer technologies (doctoral, postdoctoral, or early industry roles).
* Proactive and inventive mindset with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
* Experience in areas such as transducer architecture, signal processing, imaging algorithms, acoustic measurement, or regulatory considerations would be beneficial, though not essential.
