Your role:

Working as an Analyst within the Education Business Intelligence Unit, you will create and implement education business intelligence solutions, performance management products and support data quality improvements. You will work across all phases of education (nursery, primary, secondary and post 16) as well with SEND data.

About you:

You will have experience of analysing, interpreting and reporting on diverse management information and have evidence of using a variety of software packages (for example Power Bi and SQL) to analyse and produce management information reports and dashboards.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate excellent verbal and written

communication skills. You will be able to liaise effectively with individuals from all levels of our organisation. You will have experience of identifying and recognising problems and suggesting or implementing solutions leading to service improvements.

You will have experience of managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines, whilst maintaining a positive and professional outlook.

About us:

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.

At Wigan, we are always striving to improve what we do, and pivotal to this are our amazing staff. It’s a really exciting time to be a part of Team Wigan in the education service and contribute to the transformation of our services and outcomes for children and families. Our culture supports staff to flourish, be skilled and motivated to make a positive impact on children’s lives. We want our staff to be happy, healthy and confident in helping our children and families to fulfil their aspirations

The Education Business Intelligence Unit (EBIU) is a highly regarded team with schools and colleagues/services across the Council. The team delivers 3 service level agreements for our customers: education performance analysis products; management information systems (MIS) support; and a free school meal checking service; as well as statutory functions for the Local Authority. We also provide data analysis and insights for the Local Authority and specifically Children’s Services and work closely with the service. We are part of the Performance and Insight Unit which supports the Council in its Data Strategy and use of business intelligence to inform the services provided to residents.

Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community.
