Job Title: Director of HSSEQ – Offshore Wind
Reports To: UK CEO
Position Overview:
The Director of HSSEQ will lead the global Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality function for our client’s Offshore Wind business. This role is responsible for developing and executing a world-class HSSEQ strategy that spans the full offshore wind lifecycle—from design and manufacturing to transportation, offshore installation, commissioning, and operations & maintenance (O&M).
This position will drive HSSEQ performance and culture across internal teams, subcontractors, and the supply chain while ensuring strict compliance with international standards and local regulations. The ideal candidate is a strategic and operational leader with deep industry knowledge, particularly in the high-risk, complex environment of offshore wind.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
* Develop and implement the global HSSEQ strategy for the offshore wind business unit.
* Embed HSSEQ as a core pillar of operational excellence and business performance.
* Advise executive leadership on HSSEQ risk, compliance, and performance.
Governance & Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with international and regional HSSEQ standards, certifications, and regulations (e.g., ISO 45001, 14001)
* Maintain and evolve the integrated HSSEQ management system.
* Ensure readiness for and oversight of external audits and certifications.
Operational Risk & Performance:
* Oversee HSSEQ across the value chain: design, manufacturing, supply chain, offshore logistics, installation, and O&M.
* Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation processes.
* Drive a data-led approach to HSSEQ performance monitoring using KPIs, dashboards, and predictive analytics.
Security Management:
* Collaborate with internal security and crisis response teams to implement asset protection strategies in offshore and port-side operations.
* Integrate security risk management with overall project risk frameworks.
Leadership & Team Development:
* Lead and grow a global, multidisciplinary HSSEQ team.
* Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning across all levels of the organization.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement:
* Serve as the HSSEQ representative in client meetings, JV partnerships, regulatory forums, and industry associations.
* Support commercial teams in prequalification, bidding, and contract negotiations with robust HSSEQ input.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 12–15 years of progressive HSSEQ leadership experience, including at least 5 years in offshore wind or large-scale industrial energy projects.
* Strong understanding of international maritime safety laws, offshore logistics, and supply chain operations.
* Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and multicultural teams across geographies.
* Exceptional communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
* Willingness to travel.
