Production Team Leader Department: Production Reporting to: Assistant Production Manager Hours of work: 05:30 to 14:00, Monday to Friday Job Purpose To maximise the safe, efficient, and effective operation of your relevant department within Production to meet agreed operational targets. Principal Responsibilities To ensure effective and timely monitoring and recording of production and key measures. These being Production Booking, Productivity and Attainment to Plan. To ensure that timekeeping and discipline are maintained. To ensure adherence and pro-active approach to housekeeping standards. To ensure products meet quality standards. To ensure maintenance is carried out when and where necessary. To take an active part in the generation and implementation of cost saving and waste minimisation ideas. To ensure compliance with all HR and Compliance requirements. To ensure that both new and existing operatives are trained to become multi-skilled as far as is practicable. To be a proactive member of the wider Operations team in implementing lean operating techniques and in establishing a culture of continuous improvement. To cooperate and communicate with colleagues and the wider Operations Management team. To carry out any reasonable instructions issued by the Assistant Production Manager. Duties of Team Leader Lead by example in following safety requirements, e.g., the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment Familiarise yourself with the main health and safety risks present in the operations under your control and the precautions/control measures that employees should take to minimise the risks Challenge unsafe behaviour (and reinforce correct behaviour) throughout your respective department/work area Treat health and safety as an integral part of the proper running of your department/area Carry out and document regular safety checks (formal and informal) so that any unsafe conditions and behaviours can be dealt with before an accident can occur Investigate and report any health and safety issues raised within your department/area to your Line Manager Learn from accidents/near misses and take action to prevent them reoccurring Escalate via the correct reporting route any health and safety matter that require attention but are beyond their authority to resolve. Understand end enforce the companys health and safety policies and departmental specific rules Ensure that staff, or visiting workers for whom they are responsible have received suitable induction training and information about emergency procedures Ensure the necessary risk assessments have been done, control measures are in place and the health and safety provisions relating to the work discussed with those doing it Ensure that relevant health and safety documentation is readily available for consultation and reference and kept up-to-date Ensure that those under their supervision have received instruction and training appropriate to their needs and that health and safety considerations are integrated into this training Assist Forest Garden in any investigation where they are asked to do so.
