As Customs Officer, you will support and guide the UK Business Units in customs special procedures in accordance with HMRC guidelines. The Customs Officer will manage the day to day running of the customs special procedures that are currently in place for the UK Business Units. The Customs Officer will work with key stakeholders to develop and execute plans while ensuring that customs compliance requirements are always met. The Customs Officer will escalate any customs compliance issues to the Manager Europe Regional Compliance. You will be keen to take on challenges, remain current on relevant customs law and regulations, with respect to products imported by NOV operations and NOV policies and procedures related to the import export process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Drive customs compliance for Inward Processing Authorisations across UK Business Units
* Understand the role of CFSP, Customs Warehouse and Inward Processing and will be involved in the execution of these procedures for NOV in the UK
* Drive scrap operation in line with Inward Processing Authorisations across the UK Business Units
* When NOV is named as the Importer of Record, ensure customs compliance with current regulations, SOPs are met
* Maintain accurate records of goods imported to Inward Processing and assist with submission of Bills of Discharge to HMRC to meet deadlines
* Support third party approved vendors in line with current Inward Processing Authorisation
* Prepare and support of external audits as required by HMRC
* Liaise with NOV appointed customs brokers to ensure Customs Compliance including monthly audits of import records for Inward Processing
* Maintain recordkeeping in line with HMRC guidance
* Knowledge of Origin and Preference
* Review and approve all Inward Processing shipping documentation. Issue and maintain customs clearance instructions for shipment to NOV
QUALIFICATIONS
* Customs Qualification completed with Institute of Export (desirable)
EXPERIENCE
* Extensive experience in Import/ Export (essential)
* In depth Knowledge of Customs practices (essential)
* In depth knowledge of Customs special procedures (essential)
* Experience working with customs brokers and customs authorities Good knowledge of incoterms and impacts to supply chain and logistics (essential)
* Knowledge of EU and UK Customs legislation including implementing processes to support customs regimes and procedures (desirable)
* Experience of working with Duty Management software or working directly with Customs Clearance systems (desirable)
SKILLS, TRAINING OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE
* Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office -Excel, Word, Outlook) (essential)
* Working knowledge of ERP systems (essential)
* Knowledge of using a duty management system (desirable)
* Knowledge of commodity codes
