About this role: This role combines technical leadership with people management, ensuring delivery of reliable, innovative software that meets the high standards of the semiconductor industry. The ipWORKS software controls all our tester products and is a central part of ipTEST’s overall product offering. We have an exciting roadmap of new software features planned and this role is responsible for the design, development, test and release of these new capabilities, along with regular schedule updates to stakeholders. You will bring additional resource into your team as necessary, through direct recruitment in our UK and Malaysia offices, and through contract engineering. In addition to the day-to-day development of new features, you will also review our existing codebase, development infrastructure and processes, and work with ipTEST’s executive team to put a plan in place for modernization. Our goal is to regularly release high quality, well tested new features to our customers in a timely manner throughout. Occasional international travel may be required, particularly to ipTEST Malaysia. The role is based in Guildford, UK and reports to the Chief Technology Officer. Key Skills: Technical Full understanding of Software Engineering and Design Principals Ability to take on and modify code as required, and switch between different coding languages Real time programming Strong bug and fault-finding skills Personal Strong people management, mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to balance long-term strategic vision with day-to-day delivery. Strong communication skills, able to communicate in English, written & verbally. Passion to work within an international, interdisciplinary team. Experience: Essential 5 years of experience in Software Engineering and team leadership Track record of delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, Java Experience with version control systems (e.g., SVN) Preferred Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Experience working within ISO9001 or similar quality-regulated environments.
