Senior Commercial Manager - Equipment (12 month FTC)
Contract Duration: January 2026 – January 2027
Location: Hybrid (with travel as required)
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Manager to provide maternity cover on a major strategic programme supporting defence training delivery. This high-impact role will work closely with the Commercial Director to lead complex contract management activities and embed robust commercial governance across operations.
Key Highlights
* Strategic Influence: Partner with senior stakeholders across client and supplier organisations to optimise commercial opportunities and drive value.
* Scope: Focus on Enabling Services, including asset and equipment management, building management, and IT systems supporting training delivery.
* Leadership: Directly manage commercial interactions, provide line management to a Commercial Manager, and collaborate with supply chain teams managing major subcontractors.
Core Responsibilities
* Lead pre- and post-contract activities, including change control and performance improvement initiatives.
* Develop and deliver a commercially aligned operational plan.
* Ensure compliance with governance frameworks (DAB, IWAF, CAPOL) and legislative requirements (e.g., GDPR).
* Manage risk, pricing models, and financial performance to ensure programme success.
* Drive stakeholder engagement and maintain strong supplier relationships to achieve strategic objectives.
Requirements
* Active SC Clearance (or ability to obtain prior to start).
* Proven experience managing complex, strategic contracts within government or defence environments.
* Demonstrable experience with equipment and asset management in the defence industry.
* Strong knowledge of contract law, governance frameworks, and commercial tools.
* Financial acumen with expertise in pricing models and risk management.
* Ability to build credible relationships, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver pragmatic solutions under pressure.
