Sister/Charge Nurse – Hamwic House (1 year secondment)

Job Overview
Main duties of the role include an opportunity for a senior nurse to join the management team at Hamwic House as a Sister/Charge Nurse. Hamwic House provides services for adult cancer patients including SACT, blood product transfusions, supportive therapies, phlebotomy services, PICC insertions and oncology outpatient clinics. The successful applicant will report to Band 7 and support the nursing team (staff nurses, healthcare assistants, housekeepers), oversee management by completing yearly IPRS, manage sickness, performance and support development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Support nursing team management, staff scheduling, and SACT administration.
* Coordinate care flow, communicate with pharmacy and SACT coordination teams, and ensure safe staffing levels.
* Act as bleep holder, oversee staffing levels for the care group, and administer SACT outside the care group footprint if required.
* Attend study days and support personal development (leadership courses, advanced communication, HR training).
* Work flexible shift patterns (long days 8‑8pm, 8‑6pm or 8‑4pm; Sunday 8‑4pm for phlebotomy and CVAD care) including weekends.
Person Specification & Qualifications
* Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma), Registered nurse on the appropriate part of the register.
* Significant post registration experience/qualification/training within relevant speciality.
* Ward management experience and knowledge of current acute health service issues.
* Experience in acute hospital setting, ability to support learning and demonstrate clinical decision making.
* Commitment to post, Care Group responsibilities and continuing professional development.
