Central London 💷 £50,000–£60,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Most engineers want to work on meaningful problems. This role puts you right at the heart of one: helping make AI and autonomous systems safe, trustworthy, and ready for the real world.
The Opportunity
I’m hiring for a fast-moving deep tech startup that’s building the trust layer for AI in physical systems - think drones, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and other smart machines operating without human oversight.
Their software platform enables safety assurance for AI-driven systems without relying on data links or constant communication - something the industry hasn't really seen before. It’s early-stage, it’s fast-moving, and it’s solving a critical challenge in the world of autonomy and edge AI.
Right now, they’re looking for a QA / Embedded Test Engineer to own and evolve their test infrastructure - someone with a good understanding of embedded software verification, ideally in a safety-critical environment, and a passion for building robust, reliable systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design and implement test strategies and automation for embedded software
Work across Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop environments
Build pipelines for CI/CD and automated deployment
Drive coverage and assurance for safety-critical systems aligned to standards like DO-178C, ISO 26262, or IEC 61508
Collaborate closely with software, systems, and AI engineers to test and validate runtime assurance features
What You’ll Bring
Experience in embedded systems QA/testing, ideally on safety-critical software
Strong understanding of testing pipelines, version control, automation, and tooling
Knowledge of CI/CD, scripting (Bash, Python), and test frameworks (pytest, gtest)
Bonus: experience with HIL/SIL, Gazebo/ROS-based simulations, or static analysis tools
Why This Role?
💷 £50,000–£60,000 salary + bonus potential
🧠 Tackle a deeply technical challenge in autonomy and embedded safety
🏗 Work on a brand-new test stack - real ownership and influence
📍 Onsite in a modern Central London office, walking distance from Tower Bridge
🎁 Benefits include:
5% matched pension
Generous holiday allowance
EV car and cycle-to-work schemes
Startup equity opportunity
Huge scope to shape future QA processes and team
This is a rare chance to join a deeply technical founding team and help build systems that will enable the safe, large-scale deployment of intelligent machines in the real world.
