About the role
The Head of Finance is responsible for the strategic overview of all financial functions at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. As a key member of the Senior Leadership team, the postholder will work closely with the Managing Director and the Executive Operations Director to facilitate the establishment, re-opening and long-term financial sustainability of the airport. The role will be responsible for the strategic financial leadership and operational oversight at the airport, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure financial targets are achieved.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the development of the airport’s financial strategy working closely with the senior leadership team. Provide high quality financial insight and expertise to support strategic decision making, investment planning and long-term viability to the airport.
* Lead the annual budget setting process for both revenue and capital income & expenditure, including the development of contingency plans for revenue shocks or operational disruption.
* Develop and deliver financial management training to strengthen capability across the organisation.
* Develop and implement robust reporting mechanisms which provide accurate, timely and compliant annual accounts.
* Lead internal audit activity, ensuring recommendations are implemented and governance standards are upheld.
* Oversee financial risk management for the airport maintaining a comprehensive risk register and ensuring appropriate mitigations strategies are in place.
* Lead the implementation of a long-term ERP system to support efficient, scalable financial operations.
* Play a key role in commercial negotiations providing financial modelling for new partnerships and revenue opportunities, evaluating business cases for capital investment and operational changes.
* Oversee cashflow forecasting and liquidity management. Manage banking relationships and financial arrangements. Ensuring appropriate treasury controls and investments policies are in place and adhered to.
The successful candidate:
You will bring proven experience in strategic financial management in an aviation setting, ideally at a senior leadership level, with a proven track record of successfully preparing budgets, monitoring budget targets and completing final accounts in a complex and customer focused environment. You will have a thorough understanding of aviation finance, the legislative framework and the services that the airport is responsible for.
As a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, you will demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders effectively. Your ability to make critical decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment, coupled with strong problem-solving expertise, will be key to success in this role.
