Role Overview

Children's Residential Deputy Manager – full‑time, permanent. Salary £41,585 per annum for a 36‑hour week.


About the Role

Provides operational leadership at a children’s residential home in Woking that supports children and young people with autism and/or learning disabilities. Works alongside the Home Manager to ensure smooth day‑to‑day management, supports staff and residents’ development, and upholds all regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

* Guide and support the team of Residential Support Workers and Senior Practitioners.
* Ensure residents feel listened to, safe, and cared for.
* Arrange and facilitate games, activities, and day‑out experiences.
* Promote self‑belief and create conditions for residents to achieve endless possibilities.
* Supervise and support staff to deliver services that meet the needs of children and young people.
* Inject fun, energy and adventure into service delivery while maintaining professionalism.
* Manage complexity, risk and vulnerability; apply the Ofsted Inspection Framework and Quality Standards.
* Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of work within the home.


Required Qualifications & Experience

* Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children/young people, families, and professionals.
* Proven experience supervising, inspiring and leading staff to improve practice and outcomes for young people.
* Demonstrable competence in assessment, risk management and strengths‑based care planning.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent alternative) and good IT skills.
* At least 2 years of relevant experience in residential care and knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
